A VILLAGE bank is closing after the number of transactions fell 'significantly'.
Wedmore’s NatWest branch in Church Street will close on November 13 - meaning the closest bank will be the Cheddar branch four miles away.
A spokesman for the company said: “The number of transactions taking place in this branch has fallen significantly over the last few years.
“The branch is only open for seven hours a week and has no technology so it’s not linked to our computer systems.
“We’ve advised staff and we’re writing to our customers to make them aware of the closure and the different ways they can still bank with us.
“If customers or local businesses are concerned about how this will impact their banking, they can go into the branch where staff will be happy to discuss the alternative ways to bank with us.”
NatWest has come to an agreement with the Post Office in The Borough, where customers can withdraw cash and check their balance for free.
