A SUCCESSFUL touring caravan site in Banwell has been given a green light to expand.

Stonebridge Farm, in Wolvershill Road, was granted planning permission to extend the number of its pitches at a meeting of North Somerset Council last week.

Members of the council’s south area committee agreed the increase of 15 to 55 caravan pitches at the site would not harm the countryside landscape.

The application was made after the owner found the farm so popular over the peak season it was filled for half the peak period.

Cllr Tim Marter said: “I think we should support diversity of the countryside which is appropriate. This is an example of a successful caravan site which is using land well and bringing extra trade to the nearby village.”

All councillors on the committee voted to approve the
application, which was also supported by Banwell Parish Council.
