As part of the police’s probation service, good deeds have been done by offenders around the church.

Repair work has been taking place on a variety of different problems including fixing a gate leading up to Churchill Methodist Church.

Paul Wainwright, who has led the community payback initiative, said railings had also been painted and parts of the church’s interior redecorated.

He was joined by Reverend Julie Letts and church steward Edward Chaplin to unveil the replica gate on Saturday.
