MUSIC lovers in Draycott are regularly treated to a world-class organist during their Sunday church services.Dr Barry Rose has trained choirs across the world and worked in the country's top cathedrals.He works on radio programmes for the BBC and regularly travels to America to train choirs and hold workshops.But he always looks forward to playing the organ in St Peter's Church in Draycott when he returns.The highlight of Barry's career was conducting choirs for the Queen's Silver Jubilee service and the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. He said: "Those occasions were just like any other, but I combed my hair that bit better and minded my Ps and Qs. Draycott is a lovely village where it is really quiet and a really happy place to live."I work a lot in America and all over the country and am really glad to get back to play the organ in the village church when I can."Barry was the BBC's religious music adviser for more than 20 years, working on TV programmes, including Songs of Praise.He has been choirmaster at St Paul's Cathedral in London and director of the choir at St Albans Abbey. During his time at Guildford Cathedral, he produced the first recording by a British cathedral choir to go gold.Barry was given an OBE as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours in 1998.
