A VILLAGE hall has issued an appeal for new members to help keep the community hub alive.

Weare Village Hall has been at the heart of the community since it was opened in the 1920s.

But if no new members for the committee can be found the hall may have to close.

The youngest committee member is now 48 and the group is looking for fresh blood to bring in new ideas.

In the last year the committee has helped to organise several events at the hall including a murder mystery night, dances, wine tasting events and a quiz.

Members will only need to meet three or four times per year and help with events.

Steve House, secretary of the committee, said: “Being on the committee gives you the chance to get involved in village life.

“It’s an important part of the community and in prime place for people to interact with each other.

“But if we don’t get enough people volunteering on the committee it might have to be stopped.”
