REVELLERS in one village are busy gearing themselves up for two weeks of carnival fun, music, and fund-raising.Residents in Banwell have set out a packed programme of events for the first two weeks of July which will culminate in a colourful parade through the village's streets.Carnival season will kick off on July 1 with an open-air evening of music at Banwell Castle.Green-fingered enthusiasts will have the chance to see spectacular blooms as they wander through the village and take in the best gardens.A tour of the Bone Caves and tower, as well as an exhibition on life in the Gambia in the Scout Hut in aid of the Kunkujang Tractor Fund, will be among the other attractions.The popular duck race will be one of the highlights of the celebrations. It will see 2,000 yellow plastic birds take to the river from the Brewers Arms to Bow Bridge.A car boot sale, a hearty Tramps' Supper and a pub quiz night in the village hall will also add to the carnival atmosphere before the main event.Dozens of walking entries and floats are expected to take part in Carnival Day's grand parade on July 15.
