An art project based in Blagdon that has been a year in the making was revealed to the village on Sunday.

A sunny ceremony at The Mead play area was attended by numerous onlookers, who were also treated to a performance by The North Somerset Samba drummers.

Creation of the mosaic was co-ordinated by Wendy Phillips, who runs Mendip Mosaics from the Art Craft Studios in Blagdon’s High Street.

Wendy said: “The mosaic brought a lot of people together who were able to make friends and swap stories.

“I hope to run something like this again soon, as people are already asking what is going to come next.”

Jane Adams, a village coffee shop owner and contributor, added: “Everyone seemed to love the buzz of working together and seeing the mosaic grow and grow.”
