FOLLOWING the success of Blagdon’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the village’s jubilee forum is looking to introduce two new events.

The village fireworks celebration could be reinstated from next year, as well as an annual sports and activities day to be held on The Mead.

After an activity-packed week of jubilee activities, which featured a village lunch and fun day on The Mead, forum organisers now hope to introduce the two new events into the village calendar from 2013 onwards.

Forum member Mike Adams said: “Everybody was very pleased with the jubilee celebrations and we had a lot of requests to carry them on. Obviously that was a one-off event so we’re looking to come up with some new events to bring people in the village together – we want the events to be a legacy of the jubilee.”

The annual sports day could potentially be held every year on the Sunday following the village fete, while the firework celebrations will be held around November 5.

You can let the forum know your suggestions by posting them in the parish postbox or contacting Mr Adams at mikeadams.blagdon@virgin.net or 01761 462179.
