Village roads to be repaired

PUBLISHED: 14:00 01 August 2014

A £370,000 road repair programme in North Somerset's villages is being carried out during August.

The existing carriageway is raked, scraped and broken down to form the new road, which is then rolled.

A coating of bitumen and a layer of chippings is applied to seal the new surface.

From Tuesday to August 7, Leafy Way, Meadow Drive and Mendip Rise in Locking will be resurfaced.

From August 8-11, Purn Lane and Southridge Heights in Bleadon will be repaired, and on August 12 Nippors Way in Winscombe will be resurfaced.

The work does depend on the weather so this schedule could change. Dates will be advertised with signs on site.

Temporary road closures will be required and diversion routes will be in place.

The council have said every effort will be made to minimise disruption to residents, but access to properties may not always be possible during the works.
