A LARGE solar farm which is being built on the outskirts of a North Somerset village is near completion.
New Energy For The World, the company behind the scheme, first announced its intentions to build a solar park spanning 52 acres on the border of Banwell in May last year.
After getting planning permission in November the firm got to work quickly, and now the fields north of Towerhead Road have been transformed into an energy farm.
Any energy which is generated will feed back into the grid in Banwell and it is hoped the site will generate enough power to supply 2,300 homes at a time.
Constructed work has proceeded on schedule and is now almost complete.
The final stage is being carried out, as it is now being connected to the grid.
