BUILDERS are ready to start work on a £270,000 village project to create more space for community groups. The United Reformed Church in Wrington is set to double in size after a huge fund-raising drive.Plans for the extension have been approved and contractors are ready to start work on the hall. A new storey will be built on top the building and work is expected to take four months.Money for the project was raised from donations from villagers, fund-raising events, grants from the church's denomination, Yanley and North Somerset Environmental Company and a church from Swindon. The scheme, called the Cornerstone Project, will also provide a new base for the United Youth Group which is run jointly between the reformed church and All Saints' Church. The hall was used for a whole range of activities, like drama and birthday parties. Church members said there was not enough space to run them all.Because so many youth club classes were taking place at the same time, youngsters were being forced to meet in members' homes.SERVICES and the Sunday school will take place in the primary school hall while the building work takes place.
