DOCTORS from Axbridge Surgery have confirmed its sister practice in Wedmore will not close when the new extension opens up in October.Partners at the surgery in Houlgate Way are spending £500,000 on tripling the size of the practice.But while work has been taking place on the grounds, many patients from The Surgery in Medard Road, Wedmore, have expressed concern that their village practice will be closing.Practice manager Steve Edwards has denied the rumours. He said: "We are totally committed to the Wedmore practice. There are no plans whatsoever to close Wedmore at any stage."As far as we're concerned, there will always be a practice there."Staff have not yet decided on the new treatments they will be offering from the building but services could include asthma, chiropody, dermatology and physiotherapy clinics. Mr Edwards said: "We are looking to provide a variety of extra clinics. It's going to be quite an amazing enhancement." Patients from Axbridge and Wedmore will be able to take advantage of the new facilities once the building is up and running.
