A NEIGHBOURHOOD beat manager will step down from his post later this year.

PC Steve Church confirmed this week he will leave his post in Winscombe and Sandford in the coming months.

He said: “I will probably be going in the middle of this year and my inspector says she will be replacing me.”

The number of crimes over the past two months has also been significantly lower than during the same period 12 months previously, he told the parish council on Monday evening. Only 11 were reported this year, compared with 27 the year before.

He said the police would continue to target several long-term issues facing the parish including illegal parking and speeding.
