Villagers having fun.

Villagers having fun.

THE snow failed to put villagers in Hutton off their annual wassail celebrations.

Parish clerk Steve Cope was chosen as the green man, who led the celebrations from a home in Moorcroft Road to Des Phippen Park.

The ceremony, based on ancient tradition and held to bless the village’s apple trees, saw dozens of residents and children join in the fun on Saturday night while mugs of warm cider, and non-alcoholic alternatives, were passed around to keep the congregation warm.

A ceilidh followed the wassail ceremony at the village hall in Church Lane.
