POST offices in Wedmore and Shipham are due to close some time in April following the resignation of both postmasters. The premises in Church Street, Wedmore, will no longer operate as a post office. A new building and postmaster would need to be found if Wedmore is to continue enjoying its own facilities. The Wedmore post office is also a delivery office, posing problems for officials who may have to relocate postal staff. The post office in Hollow Road, Shipham, which is a sub-post office, could be turned into another facility, but only if an alternative site in the village can be found.Royal Mail spokeswoman Jane Thomas said: "We would like interested parties to approach us. Hopefully, people will come forward with ideas for new premises. In the past we have had them in some unusual places such as pubs and church halls. "Post offices are obviously an important part of rural community life. We are making every effort to get new post offices up and running."Anyone interested can call the Royal Mail recruitment line on 0845 6016260.
