PHASE one of a £670,000 project, designed to consign the misery of flooding to the past for Wrington homeowners, has been completed.

The scheme, being brought about by North Somerset Council and the Environment Agency, will see a flood relief drain installed to prevent scenes like those pictured from 2012 in The Glebe and Garstons Orchard.

Work on phase one began in September and was expected to last 10 weeks, but it took longer because a water main needed diverting.

Phase two, which will see a flood water storage tank installed, will begin in the summer.
