A TROUPE of baton twirlers will compete against more than 100 teams in a national competition.

The Vogue Baton Twirlers group, which trains at Hans Price Academy in Weston under Faye Summerhayes and Lauren Land, has been going from strength to strength since it was set up three years ago.

This is the first time it has entered the National Baton Twirling Association competition, which will be held in Devon in October.

The 16 youngsters, all aged under 10, will be performing group, solo and duet routines to impress the judges. If successful, they could be entered in a European competition.

Sarah Williams, who is on the fundraising committee, said: “They have done really well to get there in only three years.

“It is costing us a fortune to get there so we are going to do some events to raise money.”
