A DEDICATED charity shop volunteer from Weston has been shortlisted by the PDSA in its annual awards.
Leila Perry is up against two other hopefuls in the coveted Young Volunteer of the Year accolade.
The 21-year-old volunteers at the High Street store, which raises funds for sick and injured animals, several days a week.
Her boss, Sarah Brown, nominated Leila for the award after she noticed her enthusiasm and dedication – often covering shifts at short notice, fitting her volunteering around her business studies college course and part-time job at a supermarket.
Sarah said: “Leila is an absolute star, and is an enthusiastic member of the Weston PDSA team.
“Since starting six months ago, Leila has built up her confidence and is extremely passionate about the charity’s work.
“She will always go the extra mile for customers, helping them pick out a bargain and carrying shopping to their cars.”
Leila will find out in the New Year if she has won the Young Volunteer of the Year title.
