A SPONSORED walk will be held to raise funds for a footpath campaign.

The Coffin Lane campaigners are looking to create a new cycle route between Cross and Axbridge, as people currently have to walk alongside the busy A371.

The walk will be held on June 7, and starts at St Andrew’s Church in Church Lane, Compton Bishop, at 10am. It will then go on and continue through Axbridge and Cheddar.

Tess Gill, campaign co-ordinator, said: “People have been marvellous, getting together to achieve so much.

“Our volunteers are just ordinary people but they have a wealth of talent and commitment and are very determined to see a safe route between our communities.”

The money raised on the day will go towards publicising the campaign and pay for any materials needed.
