A Weston-super-Mare walking group has celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The Weston Ramblers formed in 1991 as part of the national association’s plan to create more regional groups.

The Woodspring Ramblers meet twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, for walks around Somerset and beyond.

It has become as much of a social group as a walking group, and members also meet for suppers and drinks.

It also holds one-off walks, including treasure hunts, and walks for Christmas and other events.

As part of its anniversary celebrations, members have organised a winter walker event for the first time, to take place on November 16 in Burrington and Blagdon.

The Weston Ramblers is open to new members, and people can go along for two walks without subscribing.
