The coastguard had to rescue a stranded vessel after it ran aground on rocks near Weston-super-Mare’s Marine Lake.
The yacht got stuck off Anchor Head and the coastguard was paged at 7.51am this morning (Thursday) to come to the rescue.
It appears the yacht got stuck after it slipped its mooring and Weston RNLI members helped rescue the boat.
A Milford Haven Coastguard spokesman said: “After arriving on scene and consulting with the person on board its was decided to attach a tow line and refloat the vessel on the flood tide and tow it to safety of a mooring in the River Axe at Uphill.
“Working alongside our colleagues from Weston-super-Mare Coastguard this was successfully completed and the crew stood down at 10.45am.”
The coastguard meanwhile this week has repeated calls for people not to jump into the water from Knightstone Island.
Earlier this week people were seen tombstoning and the activity has led to deaths before.
