It is expected to be a very wet day in Weston-super-Mare today (Tuesday) – so much so, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning.

The warning was issued for North Somerset at 9.30am, but covers from 3-10pm, when the most rain is expected.

Heavy showers are predicted to develop throughout the afternoon and become more persistent in places.

A Met Office spokesman said: “While not everywhere will see showers, some places may see 10-15mm of rain fall within an hour, with 25mm possibly falling very locally in three to six hours.

“As the ground in these areas is already near saturated, this rainfall brings an increased risk of flooding. Lightning may be an additional hazard.”
