EARLY winter snow ensured a true white wedding for David Carpenter and Katie Holder in December.

The Quantock Road couple were married on December 21 at St Audries Park in Somerset, after overcoming a number of unexpected weather-related obstacles.

Heavy snow in the run-up to the big day meant groom David endured a ten-hour round trip three days before the ceremony to collect his suit and the wedding cake.

The trip to Reading even included a stop on the M25 to push stranded cars out of the way.

When the big day came, the bride’s gown and outfits belonging to other members of the wedding party had to be ferried by transit van - alongside shovels and tow ropes - to the venue.

However, despite all the obstacles the big day went smoothly, with all but three guests successfully negotiating the treacherous conditions to join the celebrations.
