A newly-formed charity group which supports people with terminal illnesses got its fundraising underway by hosting its first-ever event at the weekend.

The Wedmore Friends of Weston Hospicecare group held a jigsaw festival in the village last weekend.

People went along to the event, which took place at the Masonic Hall in Church Street, to complete some challenging puzzles. A wide range of jigsaws, which had been donated by Hospicecare supporters, were also available to buy.

A spokesman for the hospice said: “With more than 300 jigsaws available there was plenty of choice for everyone, and visitors were able to enjoy some home-made cake and chat to several members of the friends group.

“This was just the first event of many for the group. We hope to encourage people in Wedmore and the surrounding area to support us and raise much-needed funds for Weston Hospicecare.”
