SANTA’S reindeer paid a visit to Wedmore for the village’s annual festive event.

Shops stayed open late during the Wedmore By Lamplight evening, where people flocked to The Borough to buy some gifts for their loved ones.

The event got under way with a service at St Mary’s Church, followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Children were entertained with an inflatable slide and fairground rides, and entertainers juggled with fire in the streets.

People even dressed up as a roller-skating snowman, a Christmas pudding or a Christmas tree to help get visitors into the festive spirit.

Charities including the Cheddar Vale Lions Club and the guides also set up stalls to raise some extra money for their activities.

Santa even made the trip from Lapland to hand out presents to children, who also had the chance to meet his reindeer.

Visitors could enjoy a hogroast, mulled wine, and music performed by the Burtle Silver Band.
