A Hawaiian charity barbecue raised hundreds despite the threats of rain.

The annual Alfred and Guthrum Lodge’s charity barbecue raised money for Winston’s Wish, a childhood bereavement charity to help children and their families deal with grief.

The barbecue was hosted by the lodge’s Worshipful Master Wayne Harding and his family.

Guests were asked to dress in their best Hawaiian outfit and brave the British weather for this year’s event.

Butcombe Brewery donated three barrels of beer and Hector’s Farm Shop and Ploughman’s Farm Shop supplied the barbecue meat at a reduced cost.

One of the event’s organisers, Theresa Body, said: “The event was well attended and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

“The total raised so far stands at £1,450 with a few more donations still to come in.”

Guests were also able to take part in a big raffle, with prizes being donated from a variety of businesses in Burnham.
