HUNDREDS of people will take on the Weston half-marathon and triathlon this weekend.

With thousands of pounds set to be raised for charity, many spectators are expected to take to the streets to support those taking part.

But for the two events to happen, road closures will be in force at various points over the weekend across Weston town centre.

Saturday’s triathlon – the first to take place in Weston – will see road closures in force from 7am-1pm, ahead of the 9am race start.

Knightstone Road, Birkett Road, Birnbeck Road, Upper Kewstoke Road and the Toll Road will all be shut.

The same roads, plus Royal Parade and parts of Beach Road, will be shut from 7am-2pm on Sunday when the half-marathon takes place, which also gets underway at 9am.
