Weston Wake Park plans

PLANS to build a water sports park on the outskirts of Weston have been subject to a small delay as developers seek more time to gather information.

Alistair and Robert House hope to open Weston Wake Park, which could host canoeing, kayaking, wake-boarding and rowing, by 2016.

The development for the lakes in Accommodation Road, Bleadon, is still pressing ahead but a number of weeks have been added to the planning deadline.

The plans were registered in March this year and had a target date of April to have all the information submitted.

But the developers have had to extend the application deadline to the end of this month in order to gather more information on essential planning details such as transport and archaeology.

The extension was granted to August 28 by North Somerset Council to allow the House brothers more time to provide supporting documents on infrastructure.

If the documents are submitted in time for the latest deadline, the authority could make a decision on whether to grant permission this autumn.
