THE 290 Weston Squadron Air Training Corps has had a visit from the officer commanding Somerset and he presented a number of awards.

Wing Commander Brian Willis-Pope conducted an annual formal inspection of the Weston-super-Mare unit and spoke to all 40 of its air cadets.

Flight Lieutenant Steve Manville was given the Sir Alan Lees Trophy for achievement and efficiency.

Warrant Officer Phil Sturges was awarded a bar to the Cadet Forces Medal.

Flight Sergeant Cameron Service was given a Certificate of Commendation for his community services and duties as Mayor’s Cadet.
