Coastguard teams attend multiple calls

Coastguard rescue teams attended a number of call outs yesterday (Saturday).

Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-sea coastguard rescue teams attended the beach near the Grand Pier at about 6pm after reports of multiple people stuck in the mud.

Avon Fire and Rescue was also at the scene but the people managed to get themselves back to safety.

Earlier in the day, the Burnham team arrived at Brean beach to help a woman who had fallen while playing rounders.

An RNLI lifeguard gave the woman, who had possibly dislocated her shoulder, some pain relief before an ambulance arrived to take her to hospital.

The final call saw Burnham’s crew give safety advice to a group of people who had been paddling in the water and playing in mud at the end of the jetty on Burnham beach.
