History was made at the weekend after a hot air balloon took to the skies for the first time on Weston beach.
Exclusive Ballooning secured unique permission for a one-off flight from the seafront on Saturday.
The Longleat lion balloon, known as Simbaloo, drifted through Worle and down to Longleat Safari Park.
The aerial marketing company had wanted to fly from Weston beach for many years as its operations director, Andrew Holly, owns an apartment on Knightstone Island and his family are from the town.
Simbaloo caught the eyes of many people who were enjoying an evening stroll along the seafront before landing safely.
Speaking about the achievement, Andrew said: “It was a great feeling to see Simbaloo launching with the Grand Pier in the background and heading over the promenade and inland.
“We have taken hot air balloons all over the world, but this was extra special.”
