THE streets of Weston were glittering and twinkling when the festive season officially started.
Christmas shoppers, charity workers and musicians took to the pavements, joined in with some carol singing and even met a VIP guest dressed in red and white.
Youngsters wrapped up in woolly jumpers and coats and stood by with family and friends to watch the switch-on of Weston's lights.
The town's mayor, Councillor John Ley Morgan and his family pressed the button and watched the Italian Gardens and High Street come alive with festive spirit.
The winners of the town council's design a light competition were also on hand and were treated to a VIP evening.
Most importantly, Father Christmas took a break from his busy schedule to hand out sweets to youngsters and to tell them to be good in preparation for the big day.
