A Weston-super-Mare group has launched an event which will bring together people who are at risk of social isolation.

The Multicultural Friendship Association launched its Time Together sessions which will be held on the second Tuesday of every month at the St John’s Church Hall, in the Boulevard.

The group has teamed up with the North Somerset Senior Community Link, thanks to funding from the Quartet Community Foundation, to help
give older people the opportunity to enjoy the companionship of others through activities.

Chairman Triliria Newbury said the group identified coffee mornings, arts and crafts, language and cooking classes as some of the best ways of engaging people.

She added: “We hope as many people as possible will be able to join us and to benefit from the events on offer.

“This is an initial project, but we are very hopeful it will become one which has a wide appeal.”
