Staff at Weston-super-Mare General Hospital have paid tribute to a manager who has retired after 43 years of service.

Dawn Watt has seen out her career at the hospital, in Grange Road, as the head of the Macmillan Cancer Information and Education Support Centre.

Dawn has worked tirelessly to support Weston people and their families who have been affected by cancer.

A celebration was held in Dawn’s honour by the hospital staff who presented her with flowers, cards and mementos from her time at the hospital.

Dawn, who has been at the centre for 13 years since it was first opened, said: “It has been an absolute privilege to work here and fly the Macmillan flag, it really has been a pleasure.”

Macmillan fundraising manager Kaeti Morrison said: “What Dawn has achieved in the centre really is a testament to her experience, passion and dedication to people living with a cancer diagnosis.”
