A Jamaican party will be held on July 6 at 7pm in the Regency Suite of the Grand Pier.

Organiser Fay Smart said: “The story behind the event is we are welcoming home an old friend who is returning from Australia and we want to raise money for Weston Hospicecare, where I work as a nursing auxiliary on the in-patient unit.

“It is a fantastic organisation and all funds raised will go to them.

“This is quite a different event so we hope to see plenty of people come down.”

The I Love Reggae Band will perform and there will be Jamaican food, a photo booth, and an auction of sports memorabilia.

Tickets, priced £15, include a free rum cocktail and are available at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/ddjj
