A new support group for men is being launched by a Weston charity.

Weston Hospicecare is setting up a new Men in Sheds group to provide companionship and support for men.

Research has shown bereaved men are not comfortable with more traditional forms of support which involves talking, listening and counselling.

Instead, Mens in Sheds provides a safe place where men can meet together while working on a project.

The group will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the help of four volunteers.

Director of patient services, John Bailey, said: “This project will give men the chance to make new friends, experience the camaraderie of working with others, put practical skills to good use and share them with others, learn new skills and make links with other activities and services in the area.”

To donate tools to the project, call the hospice on 01934 423900.
