Forecasts of high winds and heavy rain have led to the postponement of Weston Hospicecare's Midnight Beach Walk fundraiser.

The event was due to take place on Weston beach tomorrow night (Saturday), and was expected to see hundreds of woman walk the candlelit route in fancy dress.

Hospice management have this afternoon taken the difficult decision to postpone the event though, to protect walkers from the anticipated wet and windy conditions.

A Weston Hospicecare statement said: “Owing to the weather forecast for tomorrow, particularly the warnings for high winds and heavy rain, we have regrettably taken the decision to postpone our Midnight Beach Walk event.

“We understand this will be disappointing to those who had planned on taking part, however, we have no wish to risk the safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff.

“We will be rescheduling this event at a later date, so please keep a look out on social media for further details.

“Thank you for continuing to support us, we will be in touch soon.”
