WESTON In Bloom organisers are 'absolutely delighted' the town has been selected for the national Britain In Bloom competition after scooping gold in the regional heat for three years in a row.
The team has come a long way since it first started in 2003 and has created floral masterpieces in Weston including the model train on Alexandra Parade, the boat on the roundabout on the Old Bristol Road and the donkey and cart in Worle.
Britain In Bloom is the biggest horticultural competition in the UK and the group of Weston volunteers will have to face a tough two days of judging to take part.
The regional judging will be taking place sometime from July 8-22 and national judging takes place between August 3 and August 15.
Burt and Cynthia Filer, who have been members since the very beginning, said: “We would like to say we are absolutely delighted that after 13 years of hard work and dedication Weston In Bloom, through the help of all the volunteers in the past, has now reached the ultimate aim of being selected to enter the national competition.
“Although there will be a lot of hard work in the coming year we are really looking forward to it.”
