Results are in for this week's photo challenge - By the Sea.

Beauty can emerge from the most unlikely of places. Sometimes a sunset just gets you - this one dazzled me! I call it: Beauty can emerge from the most unlikely of places. Sometimes a sunset just gets you - this one dazzled me! I call it: "Fire in the wet Weston mud!" Picture: Derek Hitchins

We’ve seen some lovely images from around Weston entered in to our ‘By the Sea’ photo challenge this week.

After much deliberating we came up with our three favourites.

First place goes to Derek Hitchins with his stunning ‘Fire in the Wet Weston Mud’ sunset. The warm colours in the sky, which are mirrored by the beach at low tide are simply beautiful.

Second Place is taken by John Stephenson and his glowing sunset at Marine Lake picture. The warm colours of the sky are reflected by the gently rippled water.

● Troy Hares sails into third place with his distinctive landsailing photo. The image shows a good application of selective colouring in post-production to produce a striking result.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our ‘By the Sea’ competition. Our new photo-challenge is ‘Churches’. To enter, go to www.iwitness24.co.uk and upload your best shots of local churches to the Weston ‘Photo Challenge’ group. Good luck!

This photo looks like a sharp edge has been dragged across it creating fine lines across the picture where the sand has been freshly combed. The colours are sharp and it looks serene and pretty. My dog loves Weston seafront. He loves it busy in the summer with holiday makers and sunshine. But he equally loves it in the autumn and winter when we get the beach to ourselves and can appreciate the gorgeous view uninterrupted. The mist and the ambience in this photo makes me feel calm and thoughtful. Picture: Amanda SwinglerMy dog loves Weston seafront. He loves it busy in the summer with holiday makers and sunshine.
