A charitable group has donated £1,000 to support people with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Weston Lions Club hosted a cheque presentation at Pontins, in Sand Bay, where club vice-chairman John Holland and staff from the resort presented Geoff and Jo Wessell from the MS Trust with the cash.

Members raised the money through its teddy raffle, which it held at Pontins Holiday Village every Tuesday.

The fundraiser has been in place for more than 30 years and it usually raises around £12,000 for charities.

A club spokesman said: “Without the continued support of Pontins, for which Weston Lions is very grateful, this money would not be raised.”

MS is a neurological condition which affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord.
