A nationwide project which aims to highlight the dangers of type two diabetes is coming to Weston next week.
Weston Lions will set up a stall in the Sovereign Shopping Centre, in High Street, from 10.30am-3pm on Wednesday.
People will be able to complete a questionnaire for an initial screening and talk to three nurses to learn more about the health condition.
Around 90 per cent of people with diabetes in the UK have type two.
The joint Lions project will involve around 1.4 million members throughout November in the fight against diabetes by hosting various diabetes awareness month activities.
Weston Lions member Dennis Peters said: “The event will be non-intrusive, we do not demand people get tested straight away, they can merely ask questions and learn more.
“It is important for people to know more about this serious, lifelong condition.”
