BRITISH troops serving in Afghanistan will be able to watch Sunday's Armed Forces Day event in Weston live on television.

Weston Television will be broadcasting the event, which will take place from 4-6pm, to members of Talisman Squadron at Camp Bastion.

The soldiers will be holding their own event at the military base in Helmand province on Friday, and photos and messages will be used at the Clarence Park East occasion.

Talisman Squadron is a mixed unit mainly consisting of Royal Engineers, but also including medics and members of the Royal Logistics Corps (RLC), Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) and the Royal Artillery.

Squadron Sergeant Major Spencer Bourne said: “I believe that my guys are first class soldiers who are doing a brave, dangerous but also sometimes exciting job.

“It’s a great morale boost for us to be linking up with your event back in England. We’re really looking forward to watching the footage and would like to thank everyone involved.”

The event is free, and will be started off by a march of standard bearers, a drumhead service, and a sunset ceremony.
