Weston loses High Street name

A FAMILIAR name will be lost from Weston High Street today (Monday) – when building society Abbey is rebranded as Santander.

A FAMILIAR name will be lost from Weston High Street today (Monday) - when building society Abbey is rebranded as Santander.

The financial branch, which was previously named Abbey National, is due to unveil its new look today.

Santander is in the process of renaming all branches of Abbey and Alliance and Leicester to complete a network of 1,300 branches across the UK.

The company's executive director Alison Brittain said: "We have transformed into one of the most successful banks in the country in over the last five years and the launch of our new brand will allow us to build upon this success.
