WHEN not on the train to London, Weston MP John Penrose has proved his driving is up to scratch, no matter the weather.

Mr Penrose passed a driving assessment by charity Weston and Mendip Institute of Advanced Motorists this month.

The free tests are organised to improve road safety by further raising people’s driving standards.

Mr Penrose said: “I was a bit nervous when I started. Like most of us, I haven’t had a proper assessment of my driving since I took my test. But the assessor was very kind and, in the end, I passed OK.

“Given the current weather conditions, it’s vitally important that drivers are extra vigilant and know how to deal with ice and snow.”
