Viking warriors clash in Grove Park – Weston Museum’s event in pictures

Fierce battles were fought in a Weston park on Saturday, where sword-wielding Vikings met one another in combat.
The opposing armies confronted each other in Grove Park, in High Street, for Weston Museum’s Viking Day.
The encampment was set up by the Hildsvin Viking re-enactment group which showed people what life would have been like for them in the eighth to 11th centuries.
People were hard at work in tents, where they demonstrated how to make weapons and pots. Children could also dress up in the furs and chain mail.
The event was the museum’s last before it re-opens after a £1.6million refurbishment.
When it open its doors to the public again on August 26, it will host a Victorian fun day with acrobatics, games, circus skills and music.
The ambition is for the museum, in Burlington Street, to be of regional importance.
