Anyone walking past Weston-super-Mare's Beach Lawns on Saturday may have been forgiven for thinking they had travelled back in time as Vikings fought some vicious battles.

Thankfully these were only re-enactments, as Weston Museum was hosting its history weekend event.

The event had to be cancelled on Sunday due to the strong winds, but did go ahead on Saturday, despite heavy
showers.

Museum supervisor Katherine Bell said: “The Saturday was really great. We had quite a few people considering the rain and we had some battles.”

People could also learn how the Vikings ate and lived.
