Rainbow flags, painted faces and whistles could be seen and heard coming from Grove Park during Weston Pride at the weekend.

Despite the event being under constant pressure from the impending rainstorm, the organisers were over the moon with the ‘awesome’ event.

Pride project leader Nigel Briers said: “Weston Pride 2018 saw the community of all ages come together like we have never seen in previous years. This event is here to stay to celebrate equality and diversity in North Somerset and beyond.”

It started with a march from Knightstone Island at 11am down the town’s seafront and High Street before ending at Grove Park for the main event.

Music, comedy and arts and crafts entertained the crowds – with special performances from The Fizz, Sian Evans and the Lipinski Brothers among many other brilliant acts.
