Weston-super-Mare Recycling Centre has closed for the remainder of this afternoon (Wednesday) due to a skip fire.

North Somerset Council made the decision to close the centre, in Aisecome Way, at 3.30pm.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service have been notified of the blaze.

A council spokesman said: “Weston Recycling Centre is now closed for the rest of today due to a fire on site. It should be open tomorrow as usual.

“Apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
