Youngsters donned bright-coloured dresses and big wings as a fairy festival swept through Weston-super-Mare’s Bournville estate.

The free event was held at the For All Healthy Living Centre, in Lonsdale Avenue, and featured an array of fairy-themed activities.

Craft and cake making stalls, a story corner, raffles and a fairy and elf parade all took place on the day.

A competition for the best dressed fairy princess and prince also occurred, and collection buckets raised funds to go towards next year’s festival.

Organiser Louise Headington said: “We thought this festival would be a fabulous end to the summer holidays.

“We saw plenty of smiling and happy children and we hope to arrange another event next summer.”
