Circus classes, face-painting and hula-hooping were some of the activities available at a community event on Weston’s Coronation estate.

Our Way Our Say hosted the joint event with St Barnabas Church, in Westbury Cresent.

The group – which delivers safe and supportive sessions to children of all ages – also works with elderly and retired people to offer them support and companionship.

Money was raised to go towards a fund which allows elderly people on the estate to take day trips to nearby towns and villages.

The town’s mayor and mayoress attended, along with members of the church and Weston Lions Club.

Project manager Michelle Cleary said: “It was great to see so many people who have helped us come together and enjoy a fantastic day.

“Some people struggle to afford methods of transport so being able to organise a minibus for day trips is amazing.”
